THIS IS A DRAFT TEST SITE. DETAILS COMING SOON FOR FIRE CAMP 2027.
The Fired Up for The Future camp introduced me to the real world of firefighting and EMS work. I was able to learn new skills, work with a crew, and see what it takes to work in these professions.
The camp helped me understand that this job is more than just helping others and it helped me to want fire/EMS to be my career. The first time I attended camp is a big reason I started working toward becoming a firefighter/paramedic.
For me, Fired Up for the Future was a way to make lifetime friends and learn leadership skills. I went to Fired Up for the Future 2 years as a camper and 1 year as a Junior Crew Chief. I had an amazing experience each time I was at camp. The leaders were incredible and knowledgeable about Firefighting and Medical.
Once I turned 18 I got on a fire department as a Student and then pursued my Entry Level and Firefighter 1 classes. After moving I have been a part of a Volunteer Department for over 6 years and completed my Firefighter 2 class.
This camp will show you almost everything you need to know to decide if becoming a Firefighter or a Medic is something that’s for you. As for myself, firefighting has always been and always will be in my blood thanks to my dad for showing me the way.
Attending a fire camp helped me to gain more confidence in myself. It is where I first learned that I can do hard things, and that my limits weren’t what I thought they were. I was inspired to take an Entry Level Firefighter course, which was initially supposed to be something I did to help in my community.
It turned out the fire service itself was a community and was something I wanted to be a part of! Joining me in the fire service are some of those ladies I happened to meet at camp when I was just 14 years old. In the 12 years since, we remain in contact and have watched and supported each other as we’ve grown throughout our respective careers. Fire camp is something truly extraordinary!!
